Aug-22-06 | | percyblakeney: Black is losing anyway but 22. ... Qh4 quickens the procedure. |
Aug-22-06 | | Sacred Knight: Kasparov has beaten Korchnoi again. It seems Korchnoi, although a great player, especially in the past, can't really outplay Garry, even in blitz, where "anything" can happens. |
Aug-22-06 | | slomarko: korchnoi has scored only 0.5 points. terrible! |
Aug-23-06 | | Chess Lou Zer: Before everyone dismisses Korchnoi's abilities at blitz, let's remember that the man is 75 years old. The brain doesn't think as quickly at that age. Let's see how well Kasparov, Karpov, Fischer, Kramnik and Topalov play blitz when they reach 75! |

 | | Eric Schiller: Edward Lasker played in a blitz tournament at the Marshall Chess Club when he was 95. He was given a bit of extra time in each game. We drew in a long but unfortunately unrecorded game.
When Koltnowski was 95 he asked me to set up another blindfold simul, but unfortunately passed away before we could do it. |

Sep-04-06 | | aw1988: <Before everyone dismisses Korchnoi's abilities at blitz, let's remember that the man is 75 years old.> Before everyone dismisses Korchnoi being at the age of 75, let's remember his achievments and recall, most importantly, that he was very tired during this tournament because I believe he had just finished/had another event going on at the same time. There's other excuses than just "getting old"... I think it's an insult to the man. |

Oct-03-06 | | yudhimaster: Its not his old age, its cause his opponent is the best chess player ever in this world. His first mistake was 9... Ne4. What a risk position.. Its better 9... Md7 with many good alternative choice.. |
Oct-03-06 | | Notagm: Yudhimaster: you claim that Kasparov is the best player ever. Plenty would agree with you, but personally, I feel that Messrs Capablanca and Fischer would have something to say about that. Kasparov's record against Karpov is only slightly better than even, while few would argue that Capa and Fischer were better players than Karpov. |
Oct-06-06 | | cotdt: kasperov is the master! |
Oct-25-06 | | ronaldducalang: Korchnoi should just call it quits and retire. He's too old to be playing against the best now |
Oct-25-06 | | Ishaan: Kasparov has only a slightly better record against Kramink and Karpov... we can conclude that kasparov is not good while facing solid defensive players! But still he has a positive record...hence he is truly Great! |
Oct-25-06 | | Ishaan: Interestingly Anand has a positive record against all players except for Kasparov... Kasparov psyched him out in 1995, tahts why I guess |
Nov-15-06 | | AAAAron: Admit it Weinstein is the king.... I mean Kasparov. Do you guys think Kasparov would be the same player if he kept the name Weinstein..... Another fine win by Weinstein....just doesn't sound right. |

Nov-28-06 | | TylerD: notagm: You wrote: "while few would argue that Capa and Fischer were better players than Karpov." Are you serious?
Plenty of people would agree to Karpov being superior to both C and F. He won more. He dominated more (yes, you read correctly: after becoming WC Karpov totally dominated, for a decade, while both C and F had intense, but much shorter periods of similar domination). He was WC longer. Etcetera. |

May-02-07 | | goldenbear: If it's not Kasparov, then it's Lasker folks. Those are objectively the 2 best players. |

 | | Bishoprick: The discussion as to who was the best, the greatest champion is always interesting, it would seem that both Capa and Fisher weren't around long enough to claim that title. And yes, there is little doubt that Karpov would come ahead of the previously mentioned. The only candidate, I feel, would be the great Emanuel Lasker, who dominated for 26 years, and won whenever he had to win against all opposition. |

May-23-08 | | Udit Narayan: <Let's see how well Kasparov, Karpov, Fischer, Kramnik and Topalov play blitz when they reach 75!> Wishful thinking but by now we know that one of these is not a possibility! |

Apr-05-10 | | newton296: morphy! now he was a true chess genius! |
Apr-05-10 | | BarcelonaFirenze: I really like Fischer, but, although being the best (or the second best, or the third best), I think all of us would agree that his category as chess player is much higher than his category as sportsman... Karpov and Kasparov had the guts to put their title in play, while Fischer did not. Anyway, Fischer had something special... |

 | | HeMateMe: this event had the final tournament games between Korchnoi and Kasparov. Sharp tactics, here. |
