Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-11-14  estrick: This game is rated even by the computer until Black's 19th move.

19. ... Bxa2 or Bd4+ would have resulted in an evaluation of 0.00. Instead, 19. ... Bd5? put White up by a full point. Smith's position deteriorated further on the next move when he played 20. ...Bc6, which upped the evaluation in favor of Benjamin to +1.89.

Smith started nailing down the lid on his coffin with 22. ...Ke6? which drove the evaluation to +4.21 in favor of Benjamin.

At the point of resignation, after White played 31. Ne4, there was no forced mating line, but the best Black could do was 32. ...Rd8 or Be3+, with an evaluation of 5.52 in White's favor. Smith decided to call it a day and end the torment.

Sep-11-14  estrick: From a theoretical standpoint, this game appears to be the basis for the main line presented by Alburt, Dzindzichashvili, & Perelshteyn in
