13...Ng4? looks like black's first major mistake, as after 14.Qf4!, black's got problems. His knight is both pinned and attacked twice, so he can't unpin his queen without losing his knight outright. He tries 14...f5 so that he can reinforce his knight first before moving his queen away, but it's arguable that 14...g5 (ugly as it is) was a better try.

After 15.f3, black's only move was 15...Qh6, but white would already be clearly better/winning after 16.Qxc7. Instead he plays the blunder 15.fxe4?? and finds himself getting mated in under 20 moves after white's reply.
