Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-21-08  KingG: I don't know if Short was in serious time trouble or not, but he agreed a draw in a won position. Surprisingly, Black doesn't in fact have perpetual check after 34...Qg1+ 35.Kc2!(not 35.Kd2?? Qf2+ with a draw). For example 35...Nd4+ 36.Kc3 Qc1+ 37.Kb4 Qxb2+ 38.Kc5 Qa3+ 39.Kd5 Qxa2+ 40.Kxe5 Nxf3+ 41.Kf6 Qb2+ 42.e5, and finally the checks run out.

Jan-23-11  KingG: Even though Black was lost at the end, his opening play was perfectly fine, and he would have obtained a clear advantage after the natural 25...Nf6.
