May-18-16  Resignation Trap: A tense last-round game where the players castle on opposite wings and go for all-out attacks on the opposing Kings. Position after 32. Kd2 Rxe4:

33. Rb1?? has all the appearances of a time pressure blunder. Instead 33. Rh2! Qd4+ 34. Kc2 Qxd1+ 35. Qxd1 Ra1 looks like it wins, but White then has a perpetual check starting with 36. Rh8+! This win allowed Kholmov to tie for first in this tournament with Smyslov.

May-18-16  Resignation Trap: Make that 33. Rh2! Qd5+, etc.
