Feb-17-05  AdrianP: Is this really a Najdorf 5. ...a6?
Feb-17-05  AdrianP: Looks more B56 than B90 to me...
Feb-18-05  patzer2: I think Federov could have drawn after 16. Bxd4 axb4 17. Ng1, per the following analysis by Fritz 8 @ 17 depth:

1. (0.50): 17...Nxe4 18.fxe4 Bg5+ 19.Rd2 Ra1 20.c3 bxc3 21.Bxc3 f5 22.Bd3 Rd8 23.exf5 Bxd2+ 24.Bxd2 Ba2

2. (0.66): 17...Rfc8 18.Rhe1 Ra5 19.Bd3 Ra2 20.f4 Nd7 21.Kd2 Bg4 22.Rc1 Bc5

In the better line,Black should be able to force a drawish opposite color Bishop Ending, but appears to have no winning chances.

Nov-10-07  nolanryan: Somehow this variation happened in a tournament game of mine. I remembered this Ivanchuk game, played 11 ..Nb4 12. a3 d5 immediately, and ended up getting a winning position after my opponent wimped out and played 13. exd5
