Kibitzer's Corner
May-17-05  TonyClifton: all the boys need a lesson
May-17-05  hartkoka: after few pawn downs, exchanging the queen is a mistake
Sep-13-05  wzeller: It was exchange queens or lose a knight.... Not much of a choice. 28. qc4 was a nice move. 23. ... qxg4? seems to be the beginning of blacks problems, tying down his queen to the defense of his knight and exposing white's queen to rook checks. Perhaps better is 23. ... g6 and when the knight moves rc1 with the idea of nxc3+.
Sep-13-05  who: doesn't 23...Rc8 win because of 24...Nxc3?
Sep-13-05  wzeller: Say: sorry -- I meant 23. ... g6 and then 24. ... rc8 (not 1!!). 23. ... rc8?? right away is bad because of the simple knight fork 24. ne7+ winning a rook.

FSR: How Smeet It Is to be Love d by Uwe Erbe.
Sep-06-13  paramount: i think this just a " normal" game. whats so distinct?
Sep-06-13  morfishine: <FSR> Now thats just too much. Good one though. I've backed off being so critical about these puns: Its hard to pun about chess

Sep-06-13  Prudov: <morfishine: <FSR> Its hard to pun about chess> It is even harder to pun on foreign names. The Dutch name Smeets rhymes with Yates.
Sep-06-13  Gryz: A Dutch player wins in the game of the day ! Nice.

Last week I counted. 365 Games of the day in the archive. 18 Games with a Dutch player. 3 Wins, 1 draw and 14 losses by the Dutch player. As if players like Timman, Euwe and Van Wely never played any noteworthy games that they won.

I was almost suspecting somebody at doesn't like Dutch people.

Today the balance shifts slightly ... 4-1-14. Thanks.

Penguincw: At least Carlsen has had the last 4 laughs in the Netherlands:

J Smeets vs Carlsen, 2006

Carlsen vs J Smeets, 2009

Carlsen vs J Smeets, 2010
