The principle is still white must play for a win. But we wouldn't want white to commit total suicide if there is no chance for possible improvement at all . I must check out some, preferably, profesional chessplayers still since for us amateurs we always play for a win right:)?! |

Judit Polgar vs Garri Kasparov 10-2 !
5-0 is after 45 minutes !
She will remind the world about the great Hungarian team with Kocsis, Czibor, Puskas, Hidegkuti, Boszik,
Grosics (Goalkeeper) and so on.
This team is together with the greatest of several Brazilian teams and Holland at its best, a legendary one ! Between 1949-1954 !
They didn't lose one single match until the final in Bern, Zwitserland. The win that really was reserved for them ! But, once again reality has something to say. After leading with 2-0 in the final against a Germany that they defeated with 7-3 in the earlier round, they lost, 2-3. It is the irony of life that this marvellous team didn't make it.
But, Puskas, who didn't play against Brazil and Uruguay because of being injured, wasn't quite fit, even though he scored in the final.
This is regarded as a mistake, but a very understandable one.
How could they possibly not have one of their and the soccerworlds greatest geniouses ever in soccer, not playing in the final ?
Of course, Puskas had to be on the field !
After, I think, 15 minutes, he was not able to play and during these days it was not possible to put in another player.
This and the quick 2-0 lead for the Hungarians, who were too sure about the victory, made the impossible possible. They thought it was only to put out their shoes on the field. This great Hungarian team were the biggest favorite ever to win the title.
They had made fun of England 1953 by as the first country defeating England
in England and upon that at Wembley stadium. The result was 6-3 !
Even the Brittish journalists wrote afterwards that it was thanks to the kindness of the Hungarians that they didn't score more. So Kasparov will do the best by avoiding meeting Judit Polgar in soccer. Life has its delights !

I am a little bit confused now.
Do you know that in certain languages soccer is called "chess of the green field". My interpretation in English might be questionable. The ball is round, whatsoever. It's an expression for that everything is possible.

| Jan-28-05 | | csmath: This is just plain positional understanding in case of Leko. With 21. Bf4 he keeps the file with his torn pawn open and takes a control of long black diagonal. I think 90% of the people, and many strong GMs would opted for removal of black knight on e4 first which would give Bruzon quite a decent countergame. Bruzon should have played 16. ... d5 and Leko would have nothing but a draw. |

By the way in the final the hungarian team scored a third goal, but the referee sad it was offside (later most of the spectators, writers said it wasn't) Anyway, Lékó looks like clear favorite to win this tournament, and he plays football on a quite good level too. He said once, that he wanted to be a football player originaly, but when he was 10 years old, he was amaized, that he can beat adults in chess easily, the same in football was much harder off course, so he decided to be a chess player, instead of being a football player. And It was a very wise choice. |

His team Argentina went on to win the worldcup. Kasparov was suggesting a devine (human) interference occured for Deep Blue in the second game 97. |
