Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-18-05  KingG: What an attack! 17.Nxf7!! 19.Be4! 23.Bc2! 25.d6!

I wonder if this was home preparation, or whether Greenfeld saw that the Black bishop and knight weren't contributing to the defence of the king and decided to take a risk based on the fact that he had more pieces where it mattered.

Jun-25-07  Tomlinsky: This is a fabulously executed winning attack by Greenfeld initiated by the sacrifice 17.Nxf7!!

I've spent most of today studying both this game along with P Maletin vs P Lomako, 2006 where the same sacrifice occurs. Black should have been murdered in the latter game but managed to get a draw from the position due to innacuracies on Whites part.

Lots of surprising resources for both sides and avenues and alleyways to explore. A thoroughly enjoyable game.

May-04-08  KingG: This game deserves to be more famous. Maybe <> could make it a <GOTD> sometime.
