Chessical: Marco is over-ambitious, <19...Qc3> was perfectly playable but tending towards a draw, so he tries for more with <19...Ne4?!>.

<22...Kf6?> overlooks that his K is running out of squares, Marco's optimism blinded him to the threat of <g4>.

Oct-31-04  sneaky pete: <Chessical> You get support from Carl Schlechter in the Deutsche Schachzeitung, July 1913, where I found this game.

Schlechter questionmarks 18.Bxd5.. ("stronger 18.Ne5 ..") and 19... Ne4 ("19... Qc3! and if then 20.Rc1 Qxc1+ 21.Qxc1 Rxb7 22.Qa3+ Ke8 23.g4 Nd7 with good winning prospects") and on 22... Kf6 comments "better was 22... Nd6 and if then 23.Qxg7 a5".
