Nov-05-06  mack: A first-class hippo, shame it was only blitz. 11.Rd1 is a typical white move in this sort of position, proving that he has little idea what to do.

Domdaniel: <mack> Just noticed that you found this game years ago. I'd been planning to give it to you for Zoroastermas.

ray keene: Steve Giddins informs me that this is one of Chepukaitis' classics. One of the other comments says "pity it was just a blitz game". Steve continues : "In fact, I do not believe it was. My records show it as played in the 1996 Chigorin Memorial tournament in St Petersburg, which was a stage of the Russia Cup. It believe it was played at a classical time limit." Thanks Steve!

  Domdaniel: And thank *you*, Ray.

Is this Chepukaitis the same guy who Sosonko wrote about in 'Smart Chip from St Petersburg'?

Domdaniel: Thanks once again, Dr Keene. I haven't actually read the Sosonko book, by the way - I was using inferences and deductions, like you taught me.

It's true that the level of deduction required is less than grandmasterly.
