Jan-29-05  peterk007: After 30. ... Qf6 this would serve as a nice monday puzzle. 31.? White to play and win.
Apr-28-06  notyetagm: 32 ♖xc6! is a very nice <REMOVE THE GUARD> shot that ends the game. The tactical point is that if the Black queen flees, then she loses contact with the critical g7-square and mate will result.

32 ♖xc6! ♕xc6 <deflection from g7> 33 ♗xg7+ ♔g8 (33 ... ♗xg7 34 ♕xg7#) 34 ♗f6+ ♗g7 35 ♕xg7#

Apr-28-06  notyetagm: 32 ♖xc6! <REMOVE THE GUARD> of the g7-square: attack the defender (Black f6-queen) with a non-attacking piece (White c3-rook) from a square not in the defensive complex (c6-square) and <DOMINATE> the defender, driving her from the defensive complex.

Apr-28-06  peabody88: Maybe 29... ♘c4 would have hold a little bit longer
Sep-23-12  shakman: Opening theory is pretty deep here ... another game E Vladimirov vs I Polovodin, 1994

offramp: Good pun, based on the hyper-popular smartphone game about which I know only its name.
Dec-17-13  abstract: I have submitted this pun for another game of Danilo Canda, was it by coincidence or chessgames.com just used it properly for another game?

See if the pun is still in your Pun Submission List. If it isn't there, it has been used.

mjmorri: Black's aggressive play on the Queenside beginning with 22...a3 only leads to the loss of the Exchange without any compensation and a weakened pawn structure to boot.
Dec-17-13  fishcat: There are some dark square weaknesses around the White king but after 23. Nd3 and 24. b4 it seems there's no way to exploit them. 23. b3 allowing ...Qc3 or 24. b3 allowing further queenside counterplay are much worse.
Dec-17-13  kevin86: Smile,you're on CANDA camera!

The queen has nowhere to go and nowhere to stay!

Dec-17-13  kyg16: 25... Ra4 does not seem a good choice at all, what was the idea ??

playground player: I, too, couldn't see the reason for that Rook a4. Then again, maybe there wasn't any.
