Oct-11-04 | | sneaky pete: The multi purpose chicken attack h3 .. d3.. a3 .. employed (almost) succesfully against the Sicilian. Kramnik used this ferocious opening strategy in the Ruy Lopez as a deadly drawing weapon in the 2nd and 4th matchgame against Leko. It's really a pity black spoiled the effect here by resigning, instead of offering or accepting the draw. |
|
Oct-11-04 | | azaris: Talk about a flank attack. But why did Black resign? Kasparov has nothing going on here. |
|
Oct-11-04 | | Jesuitic Calvinist: Good question, <azaris> - I was just about to ask it myself. Black doesn't seem to have any plan available, but that of itself is no reason to resign, even against Kasparov. |
|
Oct-11-04 | | clocked: <azaris> Black didn't resign, this is an incomplete game. I can provide the rest... |
|
Oct-11-04 | | bestbytest: Great game by Kasparov Completely shutout any kind of counter play from the vary beginning. |
|
Oct-11-04 | | clendenon: "Best by test", Fischers reply to the question of why he played e4 almost exclusively. |
|
Oct-12-04 | | Gowe: This game is not like this. Black was playing a good match.. it doesn't have any sense the last moves. |
|
Oct-12-04 | | Jesuitic Calvinist: <Gowe>, I think the last moves do make sense. White's threat of 40.Nf5 is very strong (try it) - the black knight on e7 really has nowhere to go and if Black plays ...Nxf5, then the white queen comes to f5 and the pressure against f7 is too strong - note that the black Queen cannot go to f8 to defend because of the white bishop on c5. If the black knight retreats to c8, then Ra7 wins it. Kibitzers would have gathered that when Azaris, I and others first saw this game on the site, it was incomplete. I for one can now confirm that after 41.Rxe7, resignation by Black is completely appropriate and not in any way premature. |
|
Nov-11-04 | | Gowe: <Jesuitic Calvinist> Of course Black resignation is appropiate, but i never said the opposite. I mean that Qd4 has no sense to me. The last moves by black hasn't any sense, no the resign. Is obvious after Qd4 that the next move for white is Rxe7. The pawns on c6 and b54 has nothing to do against a rock. But why black did not resing before. The match was decided some moves before that Rxe7. QD4?? |
|
Nov-14-04 | | Kubikas: Omg ppl, why he resigned? :)
it's close to mate in Blacks position, only one chance to escape is Qd8, altho, blacks in trap, so don't talk not before analizing something. |
|
Nov-14-04 | | Knezh: The threat in the final positionis Re8+ followed by 43. Qc8 and Nf5-e7+. |
|
Nov-15-04 | | Gowe: the only thing i tried to said is that black should resing before because he has a very poor structure and that the last moves were innecesary because doesn't help nothing to that structure. So the resing had to come before, not after Rxe7. |
|
Dec-14-05 | | child of my tears: Are 6. h3 and 7. a3 moves from the book? They look like the kind of moves patzers play against me in the opening...but if Garry plays it I guess it's not unsound. |
|
May-25-06 | | spirit: <azaris> me thinks whyte has a win after a long fight |
|
May-23-07 | | Dr.Zoidberg: nice... is this thing on?
|
|
May-23-07 | | DMBFan23: man it looks like the c4 pawn is undefended after 15. axb4 but if 15...Qxc4 then 16. Bxb6 is pretty nasty |
|
Mar-17-08 | | smarterthanbobby: everyone is wondering why black gave up here is my thoughts.... if black's move 41 qxc5
the white's move is 42 qc8! check
if blacks king goes 42 h7 OR BF8
then 42 ROOK E8 ( QUEEN ON C8 )
THIS WILL FORCE AT A BARE minimum
a rook takes bisop, queen takes rook,
black KING TAKES WHITE QUEEN F8...
NOW AS THIS OCCURS... BLACKS QUEEN
IS WAY WAY FAR AWAY - considering whites horse is a few moves away...
WHITES KING AS WELL IS ALMOST equal in distance but once WHITE equals
blacks pawn advancement effort in the center of the board... WHITE HAS THE LEFT SIDE, white has Kasparov and a horse up... with a possible 1 tempo
move with the white king... and a horse that is out to take a few pawns
from black and at the least block the
king from whites back root and or get the king to blacks back root... put in simple TERMS IT'S GAME OVER FOR
BLACK... ( FOR ALL THOSE WHO ASKED WHY
THERE WAS NO DRAW OFFERED? WHY HE GOT UP -- THIS WAS A LOST GAME FOR BLACK )
===
AS WELL IF blacks move was 41 qxc5
then 42 RE8! BISOP MOVES IN PLACE
IF KING GOES H7 AFTER 41QXC5
THEN 42 IS QF5!!!! CHECK MATE so that
is why the game was lost...
- I was a little tired but I feel good about this being right?
any thoughts? is this right on? let me know! thanks all! |
