plang: 13 a4 was new; 13 Bc2 had been played previously. Bacrot thought that 17 Bd2..Nc4 18 Bxc4..bxc 19 Bc3 with a small edge would have been a better continuation for White. 18..d5!? led to interesting complications. Bacrot felt that with either 21..f5 22 Qf3 or 21..Nf6 22 Rae1 Black would have had better chances of fighting foe equality. 46 Bxb5! clinched the game as 46..Nxb5 47 Nd3+..Kxd5 48 Nb4+..Ke5 49 f4#.
