  fredthebear: White is up a piece, but there's no quick mate in the final position shown. Play could proceed in any direction.

For example, 16...cxd4 17.Qh7 17...g6 18.Qxh6+ Qg7 19.Qf4 dxc3 20.Nxg6+ Ke8 is one of many possibilities.

If there's no mate or apparent combination readily available, would you simplify by trading queens and other like pieces?

  fredthebear: Does anybody know why Veresov "Atack" is spelled with just one "t"? I've occasionally seen this same spelling elsewhere, so it seems to be by design.
