Kibitzer's Corner
Premium Chessgames Member Today's game is dedicated to hurricane Frances, which is on a direct collision course with the server:

We trust our hosting company very much, and their facility is like a military bunker, but if we happen lose connectivity over the weekend this is why.

Sep-03-04  caballos2: Good luck, chessgames. I hope you'll all be fine!
Premium Chessgames Member
cu8sfan: Good luck, I hope you'll make it!

And good luck to all the people in the area, especially my dear friends Gene and Steph in Orlando who must fear to lose more than just a server. I hope you're all well!

Sep-03-04  Eatman: Good luck guys!

Today's game was quite stormy as well.
Seemed neither opponent had full control till very end.

Sep-03-04  DoorSmashingRampage: White really stanke in this game :)(sorry-this is why I don't kibbitz much)
Sep-03-04  drchess9999: I have the feeling that white was distinctively better and somehow he just lost it.
Sep-03-04  briscola: I hail to thee Chessgames!..neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these courageous couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds, delivering excellent games in the face of peril!....we only learn our true greatness when we are truly tested!!

kevin86: What a neat game! Black's two passed pawns proved to be worth more than a queen-so black's sac proved fruitful.

Prayers to the staff and operators of ---and the people of Florida.

Sep-03-04  iron maiden: Chessgames, I'll keep you guys and my other Floridian friends in my prayers this weekend. Although actually, "The Perfect Storm" was more of a nor-easter than a Florida hurricane.

patzer2:, please do not hesitate to evacuate if your safety is at stake. I've seen the damage catagory III or IV hurricanes and typhoons can do, and it's not pretty.

Meanwhile I'll join Kevin86 in prayer for your safety as well as that of all the other people in Frances' path.

As to this game, instead of 30. Kxg2?!, White should have spoiled "the perfect (pawn) storm" with 30. Rd7+! .

White has a clear advantage after 30. Rd7+! Rf7 [30...Kg8?? 31. R1d6 Qxd7 (31...Qd8 32. Qxg2! c3 33. Qb7! ) Rxd7 ] 31. R7d6 Qe7 32. Qxg2! .

Sep-03-04  Calculoso: I go to the University of Florida... Wish me luck!

patzer2: <Calculoso> Even though I'm an FSU graduate, I wish you luck and am keeping you in prayer. I cheer for the Gators in football, except for one game near the end of the season.
Premium Chessgames Member Good news, Frances has been downgraded to a category 2 storm. It should be a rainy nuisance for most Floridians and little more.
