TheAlchemist: A wild game! Westerinen was too ambituous I guess.
May-18-07  syracrophy: This guy is a monster!
Mar-19-09  Xeroxx: this game is really epic

Feb-12-14  paavoh: Both were very radical chess players, Westerinen espacially wants to charge forward, Planinc is exceptionally creative. Wonderful.
Feb-07-19  YoungEd: If this were a "guess the move" game, I'd get a zero.

An Englishman: Evening Good: Scram. Brain. Bled. My. Is.

What a game. This qualifies as one of those brawls where we would benefit from the wisdom of our silicon monsters.

Honza Cervenka: 11.dxc3 was too optimistic.
Feb-07-19  TheaN: Westerinen probably realized somewhere end-midgame that he was lost, but could have played into the aesthetically pleasing <40.Qe1 Bf3+ 41.Re2 Bxe2#>.
Feb-07-19  Ironmanth: Terrific game!
Feb-07-19  gars: What a game! Planinc played here like there would be no tomorrow!
Feb-07-19  ChessHigherCat: < gars: What a game! Planinc played here like there would be no tomorrow!>

Even more pleasing IMHO is 40. Re1 Rd2+ 41. Kc1 Rd1+ 42. Kxd1 Bf3#.

Experience prevailed.

Feb-07-19  weisyschwarz: Great game! Full of fisticuffs.
Optional theme: "A Better Plan".
Feb-07-19  Ilkka Salonen: Not the best game, from Finland's not so many chess stars. I can't say that the atmosphere is the most chess friendly. I mean, our women's team has been close to last in the European championships many times. Anyway, to boost up the tiny northern nation's chess esteem everyone could just calling Russian defence, the Petrov-Jänis variation instead. There are historical arguments to favor that.
Feb-07-19  sfm: Great game!
