15 Bb5+..Ke7 is not considered strong as Black's king is comfortable on e7 and Black will gain time chasing White's misplaced bishop.

16..Rd8 had been played four times previously including twice by Dreev; 16..Ne7 was new. 18 Bb5+..Kf8 19 Nb3..Bxf2+ 20 Kxf2..Qb6+ 21 Be3..Qxb5 22 Bc5..Rd2+ would have been strong for Black. Black played for complications with 28..f5. Since 29 Qh5..Kh7 30 Rd2..Qc7 followed by ..Nc6 would have left Black better with the e-pawn weak White accepted the challenge with 29 exf. The game was dynamically balanced until 34 Qd6?; better was 34 Ne5!..Rxg3+ 35 fxg..Qxg3+ 36 Kh1..Re1+ 37 Rxe1..Qxe1+ 38 Kg2..Qe2+ 39 Kg3..Qe3+ 40 Kg4..Qe4+ 41 Kh5..Qe2+ with a draw. 36 h4 would have left Black somewhat better; instead after 36 Na5? the game ended quickly. White resigned due to 44 Nb4..Rxc1+ 45 Qxc1..Ra1.
