Sep-11-07  Maynard5: Black's 8. ... Qe7 is a new and interesting idea in the Benoni, to restrain White's e4. It is surprising that Black does not get a better game from it. Instead of the aggressive thrust 11. ... f4, Black might do better with 11. ... Nbd7, intending an eventual ... Ne5.

In his book on 1.d4 John Cox recommends delaying Nf3 against the Benoni in order to get in h3 and e4 before Black can play Qe7 or Bg4. Of course, this means one hs to face the Nimzo rather than the Queen's Indian.
