Aug-17-03  morphynoman2: It seems to me the key position is after 30. e7. Apparently Morozevich saves the game with 30... Rxd4!. Why not 31. e8(N) and Nxc7?

Zenchess: Thanks; Korchnoi was off form in this tournament. However, Morozevich in NIC, said, "He'll be back!" Which he is.
Aug-03-05  PinkPanther: Hm, this is more or less a Grunfeld.

dernier loup de T: <Zenchess>, do you remember the temperatures while summer 2003? I never liked, nor Fischer, nor Korchnoi as persons, specially because of their behaviour. But I recognise Korchnoi was a great and courageous chess champion; about Fischer, of course, this one was the strongest of all times in my opinion. Considering the age of Korchnoi in 2003, and the terrible heath while this sadly memorable summer, air con or not in the playing room, he had really no reason to be ashamed because of his performance!

GrahamClayton: I would have played 31. e8=N+ just to have three knights on the board at the same time:

OhioChessFan: I think it's a draw with the 3 Knights, despite whay <xu fei> said 17 years ago. Of course White need not capture a Rook immediately when both are under attack.

31. e8N+ Kf8 32. Kh1 and then it gets interesting.
