Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-20-08  KingG: Obviously both players felt like a day off and played straight down a well known drawing line.
Dec-20-08  Octal: So the continuation is 24 Qxb7 Bxd4! 25 Nxd4 Qe1+ 26 Kh2 Qe5+ 26 g3 (27 Kg1 Qe1+ 28 Kh2 Qe5+) 26 ... Qxd4 27 Qxc6 Qxf2+ 28 Qg2 with a draw, right?
Dec-20-08  KingG: <Octal> Are you assuming Black should play 23.Qb8+ Kh7? In that case I suppose that White can play 28.Qxf7(protecting f2) instead of 28.Qxc6 in your line. Instead, Black can draw after 23.Qb8+ Qc8!, as in for example Portisch vs Van der Sterren, 1994. The line you give would draw after 23.Qc7 Nc4 24.Qxb7 Bxd4, which is an even clearer draw than 23.Qb8+.
