Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-15-04  Whitehat1963: Menchik waxes this guy, who, by the way, was good enough to draw with Fine and Alekhine. And she does it with black in fewer than 25 moves!

An Englishman: Good Evening: If only the von Hennig-Schara were sound. If only, but it isn’t. However, you have to take the pawn to refute it.

Phony Benoni: We're used to seeing Menchik playing passively for a draw and get slowly sqashed like bug. But that was against the likes of Capablanca or Alekhine. with players closer to her own strength, she was quite capable of aggressive, enterprising chess.

  OhioChessFan: Nice pun, nice game.
Feb-18-20  Parachessus: Too bad she died at age 38, she might have added many more men to her club. I love these older games, chess seemed more "heroic" and eventful back in those simpler times.

MissScarlett: As usual, I got there first: A Reif vs Lasker, 1889

Let's face it - I'm good, annoyingly good.

HeMateMe: I submitted the same pun, some time ago <reefer> (might have been a different name). It wasn't chosen.

HeMateMe: Hey, thanks PB! But I don't know whether or not that was one of mine. I've been submitting these things for years, you forget after awhile.

Two of mine I remember doing are:

<The Salem Vish Trials> (Vishy Anand v. a guy named Salem) and

<Of Mieses and Men> A game by Jacques Mieses vs someone, a play on the Steinbeck book Of Mice And Men. Those were years ago.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Sometimes try my hand at submitting titles (and CG did use 1 or 2), but compared with <HeMateMe>, <MissScarlett>, and <Phony Benoni>, I feel like a beginner amongst an army of Carlsens.

Willber G: I've submitted very few puns but I did win a Caissar for one of them. ;)
