Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-24-04  Marvol: The Bulgarian (or Czech) team did their homework poorly, or do I miss something? 13 matches won by Minchev in the single TSl-Bul match. It cannot be that an entire team of GMs with their assistants can't come up with anything decent against this ramshackle gambit. And after the 12th game, if they didn't have a defense, why keep playing it instead of switching?

Very odd IMHO.

Aug-24-04  siggemannen: <Marvol> maybe they wanted to refute it but he kept finding winning ways
Aug-24-04  sneaky pete: <Marvol> TCh has nothing to do with Czechia, it stands for Team Championship, so these games come from several matches between club teams. Minchev plays his gambit whenever he gets a chance and takes care (like good old Jenny and Prince Dadian) that only his wins will be published. No <entire team of GM's with their assistents> around.
Aug-27-04  Marvol: Aha! Team championship... that explains. So less strong opponents and probably no correspondance between the losers to get a solution/refutation. Thanks for the clarification!
