Jun-09-16  zanzibar: This game is given as <St Petersburg m (1851)>, yet wiki gives the earliest match in 1854.

I would like to know the source for this game.

Someone please post the source. 🙏🙏🙏

Dec-11-24  stone free or die: Well, the game now is sourced:

<Chess Player's Chronicle, v12 n10, October 1851, pp291-292>

I see the game is now described as a casual game (or series), and not an official match (more formal, or a series involving sakes and agreed format).

Dec-11-24  stone free or die: I'd like to see <Source_url> used in the PGN too, it's helpful and convenient to easily go to the source, like this:

https://books.google.com/books?id=y...

(First game of three)

  MissScarlett: < I'd like to see <Source_url> used in the PGN too> I wouldn't. They're generally a sprawling mess, and many would require editing beyond the 64-character limit.

OK, first things, first.

The 64-character limit is entirely an artificial limitation <Daniel> imposed on the <Source> tag for <CG> purposes. He could have easily accommodated the PGN standard's limit of 255 characters (or should that be 256?).

(SQL is old as dirt, but not as old as the IBM selectric standard of every record being fixed - that went out with the model T.)

As far as being messy - remember, <Source_url>'s are meant to be clicked, and not seen!

(<CG>, in an ideal world, could be all things for all peoples. A user option would allow the suppression of the tag for the unrefined hoi polloi.)
