Nov-11-02  refutor: do you think that leko, ponomariov and kasparov have all been working on this line as white? :) i have a feeling that if krammy plays the ruy lopez again it won't be the berlin
Jul-01-09  returnoftheking: 58.Rc7 zugzwang!

if Bf7 then Be7+ Ke8 Bd6 and the threat of e6 (Re7+) is murderous (timman)

plang: 12 g4 had been played in a quick play game earlier in the year; 12 a3 was new. Black was doing OK until 21..b5?! creating weaknesses on the queenside. 35 Bb6 would have been more accurate. 43 Bc5..Kd7 44 Ra7+..Kc8 45 f4 would have been an improvement as in the game White's king ended up getting cut off from supporting the e-pawn. Black lost quickly after 57..Kf8?; a tougher defense would have been 57..Bf7 58 Bf6..Rg6+ 59 Kh7..Rg1 60 Rc7..Bd5 61 Kh6 when White would still have had work to do.
