Honza Cervenka: Pretty game with a nice finish.
May-17-05  mack: A cool finish but that's pretty much all this game has to recommend it; very stuffy play by both white and black.
Feb-18-08  whiteshark: Could you confirm that the following game was the first '3rd round' game they played ?

<White exceeded the time limit, but Black did not claim a win. So the game was replayed.> 1/2-1/2

Feb-18-08  whiteshark: ooh, the game is here: Paulsen vs De Vere, 1870 but the question remains open.
Feb-18-08  Calli: ChessBase has only 34 moves of the game ending after 34...c5. The time limit was 40 moves in 2 hrs and 20 in 1 hour. The shorter version seems more likely. Could Paulsen exceed the time limit in only 8 moves after an adjournment?

plang: Nice attack but it is hard to imagine any "average" amateur tournament player making the move 13..f5?.
Jun-16-16  Adriano Saldanha: Unfortunately there is no reference of the author of the annotations.
Mar-10-22  Stolzenberg: 8. ... b6 is nowadays preferred.
