Honza Cervenka: Neumann's play in this game somewhat resembles Steinitz.

tamar: Neumann had a mental breakdown in 1869, according to "Oxford Companion to Chess", but recovered and placed equal third at Baden-Baden after Anderssen and Steinitz.

Then in 1872 he suffered another mental collapse that ended his career.

keypusher: That is very sad. I had no idea.
Apr-16-10  ariel el luchador: Muy mala partida de parte de Paulsen ni siquiera intentó atacar en el flanco dama, quizo copar el caballo negro y quedó peor una mala partida, pero Neuman no tiene la culpa.
Mar-09-22  Stolzenberg: Instead of the retreat 8. Bd3, White should have considered 8. Bxd7+ or even 8. c4. One move later, White played 9. Ne1, which would have made more sense with an empty square d3.
