Jul-21-06  Aspirador: <I am not A Crook!"> I just read this yesterday on http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/List_o...:

"I am not a crook" Richard Nixon.

Often attributed to his denial of any foreknowledge of the Watergate break-in, when in fact the question raised in a Press Conference was about his personal finances.

Jul-21-06  RandomVisitor: Nixon was hanging in there and might have avoided resigning until he made the back to back blunders 27.Rxe8? and 28.Kf2?, better were 27.Nde4 and 28.Bb2. The rest is history.
Jul-21-06  Jack Kerouac: Dick Nixon. The 2nd worst criminal in the history of the presidency.
Jul-21-06  alefromitaly: Here's white player's graphic of the game... ^____^ http://blog.nodvin.net/wp-content/u...

"You cannot win a battle in any arena merely by defending yourself."

Richard Nixon

Jul-21-06  kevin86: It's funny! Now Nixon is remembered for opening China as much as his faux pas in the white house.

The game is not very noteworthy-white will not only be impeached, but also a rook down-so Nixon resigned.LOL

Jul-21-06  Kreifi: So the game lasted 5 yers. :P
Master of the puns, master.
Jul-22-06  dakgootje: "To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as President I must put the interests of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad."
Jul-22-06  euripides: <Dick Nixon. The 2nd worst criminal in the history of the presidency.> you refer to the Great Peanut Fraud ?
Jul-22-06  kevin86: <Euripides> Don't get me started! Let's see:a crooked election,a crooked war,the worst poll numbers in history---need I say more? My choice for #1 would be the current resident:GWB

Coward that he was as a youth,He would have resigned before the game even started.

Jul-22-06  Resignation Trap: I wonder what Nixon would have played against the Stonewall Variation.

Aug-03-06  dbquintillion: oh dammit YouRang I was all set to make the checkers joke. I scrolled all the way through the comments and no one had made it until the very last one. Guess I've got to be faster.

Domdaniel: Great Nixon movies? Not the Stone edifice with Tony 'fava beans' Hopkins. There's a good scene ("They *hate* you, sir...") with Bill Murray as Hunter S Thompson in 'Where the Buffalo Roam', but it's just a cameo.

The *great* Nixon movie is 'Secret Honor', directed by Robert Altman.

Nixon on his last night in the White House, slurping whiskey and waving a gun ... "The founding fathers was a bunch of English pricks ... blam!" ... while revealing the amazing truth of his heroic self sacrifice.

Unsound, of course.

Some forty years on, one suspects that there would be far fewer spots reserved for <expletive deleted> in any published transcripts, as we would be favoured by seeing most every word.
