May-02-04  bumpmobile: White to play and win...no wait, I mean white to play and win...no, black to lose...white to black...oh, never mind.

  tpstar: Clever! So is White's combination = 9 ... Qd7 10. Re7+! wins the Queen - 10 ... Qxe7 11. Bxe7, or 10 ... Bxe7 11. Ne5+, or 9 ... Be7 10. Rxe7+ followed by a discovery. This is what you might call White on White.
Jun-15-08  ravel5184: Probably White didn't want to play black.
Jun-15-08  ravel5184: I admit, it is a bad pun, but nobody said it before!
Sep-17-22  Ziryab: Game 31 in Irving Chernev, <The 1000 Best Short Games of Chess> (1955). Pearsall is also mentioned in the note that precedes game 23 because he is one of four who played the moves in Greco vs NN, 1623 and had the game published. Pearsall’s game was published in <Chess Review> (July 1935).
