Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-16-03  richardwm: Black's third move is weak.
Apr-16-03  BLD9802: In my opinion, his third and also his fourth and fifth moves are weak. :)

Incidently, we were recently kibitzing on another game that Thomas Barnes may once have won against Morphy using the opening 1.e4 f6. I do not have this game if it exists.

Apr-16-03  refutor: he did...i tried to add all the games from the barnes-morphy match to the database (chessgames.com i'm looking in your direction) :p that game can be found on the upitt server under morphy.pgn
Feb-13-04  PaulKeres: I agree that Black's 3rd move is weak, is it a ? though, or can Black get somewhere with it with good play? what is Black best 4th move? I think a6 may be ok if it is followed up by b5. Perhaps c6 is ok, something to block the a2-g8 diagonal for black after 5. Bc4
Mar-19-04  TheTurk: this mate is remeniscent of the legal "sacrifice"
Nov-02-05  schnarre: <TheTurk> Indeed!

Black played far too passively, allowing White to simply grab material (such as with 7. Nxe5). 6...fxe5 was attrociuos (better 6...dxe5)& compounding it with moving away the Knight at e7 (the only real defender) sealed Black's fate!

Sep-05-07  ManaT: 6...dxe5 loses the queen with 7. Bf7+
Sep-17-09  WhiteRook48: also the second move is weak
