Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-24-04  ruylopez900: Drats, it's NN who falls for it. It would've been funnier if it was Timman or Bronstein who fell for it.
Mar-24-04  Kenkaku: A reverse Legal's Mate, interesting.
Mar-24-04  ruylopez900: If you check out Lawrence's collection below there is another game where Black gets Legal's Mate.
Nov-25-04  Bobak Zahmat: 8.Ne4?? instead of this White should play 8.Nf3
Jan-10-09  WhiteRook48: hmm. NN falls into a Legal's Mate... with the white pieces!!
Aug-17-12  kevin86: Checkmate on Elm Street?!

  OBIT: After <Bobak Zahmat's> suggestion 8. Nf3, there are some interesting tactics after 8...Bg4. Now 9. Ne4? Nxe4! still works: 10. dxe4 (10. Bxd8?? Bxf2+ 11. Ke2 Nd4# is yet another flavor of Legal's mate, this one utilizing a pin of the knight on f3) Bxf3 11. Qxd8 Rfxd8 12. gxf3 (12. Bxd8?? Bb4#) Bb4+ 13. Ke2 Nd4+ and Black's attack wins at least a piece.

There's more fun stuff after 9. Nd5? Nxd5! 10. Bxd8 Bb4+ regaining the queen with advantage (not 11. Ke2?? Nd4#). White should be okay after 9. Be2.
