Jan-24-02  knight: Black's 19...f4 led only to equality. This is probably the point where black could of tried something different.

plang: White has tried several 13th moves; 13 h3 was new but has not been repeated. 15 Nxd5?! led to Black having a slight edge; 15 cxd..Nxc3 16 bxc..Bxd5 would have been equal. Ponomariov could have played for a win with 24..Nc5 25 Qc4..Qg5 but faced with the prospect of having a two point lead with two to play he was satisfied with a draw.
