TheAlchemist: 28...Rxc3!? is a common idea. Perhaps it could have worked out better.

plang: After winning game 1 and ingeniously saving a draw in game 2 Ponomariov played a relatively quiet opening in game 3. 17 Red1 was played in the short draw Svidler-Movsesian Polanica Zdroj 2000; 17 Bb6 was new. Bad would have been 19 Nd5?..Bb5.

<TheAlchemist: 28...Rxc3!? is a common idea. Perhaps it could have worked out better.>

Ponomariov gives 28..Rxc3?! 29 bxc..Bxe4 30 Bd3..Bxd3 31 cxd..Rxc3 32 Rb1..Rc7 33 Rhh1 with a clear advantage for White.
