Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-11-06  blingice: 25. c4?? Yeah, good idea, ignore a kingside attack by Morphy.
Jul-11-06  RookFile: Well, did white have a good move there?
Jul-11-06  blingice: 25. Nc3 was my initial thought, but saw it fell to 25..Qh4.

Here's Chessmaster's analysis of the top two lines: <-0.76 25.c4 Bxh2+ 26.Kf1 Be5 27.Ng3 Rh2 28.Rac1 Qf6 29.Qd3 Bd4 30.Kg1 Qh4

-1.18 25.f4 Qh4 26.c4 Bxf4 27.Nxf4 Qxf4 28.Kf1 Bc8 29.Rd3 Rxh2 30.Kg1 Bf5 31.Qc3+ d4 32.Rf3>

Chessmaster thinks Stanley's main problem was the 26. Rxd5?? move. Chessmaster prefers <0.48 26.Qc3+ Kg8 27.f4 d4 28.Qf3 Qh4 29.Ng3 Kg7 30.Re1 Bc8 31.Qa8 Qh3 32.Qxa7+ Bd7>.

There you go, Chessmaster could beat Morphy. :)

Stanley probably thought 26.Qc3+ could be met by ...d4 (27.Nxd4 Qg5+ 28.Kf1 Qg2+ 29.Ke2 Qxf2+30.Kd3 Be5), but 27.Rxd4! cxd4 28.Qxd4+ Kg8 29.Ng3 and White threatens the rook as well as Rd1.

Nov-21-20  paulmorphy1969: Only 3 gam3 of this mach are
