Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-04-04  Bobak Zahmat: The endgame is played super by Paul Morphy. Great attack on the kingside flank after the sacrifice of the pawn.
Aug-13-07  frank124c: This is not a true Fried Liver attack since there is a Pawn sac not a Knight sac to expose the King to attack. I think the word "chopped liver" would be more appropriate!
Aug-13-07  RookFile: Well, Boden was doing fine for a while in this game, it's too bad he lost his way.
Jun-28-08  heuristic: 24.g5 h5 25.Rh1 c5 26.Rh4 g6 27.Rdh1 f5 28.gxf6 seems better.

31.Rh7+ Kd8 32.fxe3 Qxg4 33.Rh8 Re8 and the game plays itself!

Jun-28-08  mmmsplay10: Paul Morphy was doing pretty badly in the start of the game, or so it seemed
Jul-18-08  InspiredByMorphy: I don't understand 29. ...g5?
Jul-18-08  Calli: g5 is almost forced because Morphy threatens Rh1-h3 winning a piece. Note that neither 29...Bxe3 30.fxe3 or 29...Bd6 30.Qf1 changes the situation.

Feb-14-12  outplayer: i do not like 9...a6. i think 9...Bg4 is better.
Mar-01-13  copablanco: After 29....g5. Black's position unravels with more holes than a swiss cheese.

MissScarlett: Boden in the <Field> of May 7th 1859 gives the game as being <played during [Morphy's] recent stay in London.> I just realised this means the game dates from 1859, not 1858. This also resolves the problem that Morphy's score against Boden in 1858 was said to be +5 -1 =3, but there are 10 such games in the DB.
