Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-28-06  Chicago Chess Man: Why not 20. NxB ? Or is white trying to prevent the perpetual? This looks like some unsound attack I would try just for the heck of it and end up losing.
Mar-28-06  Jonber: 20.Nxd4 lets Black escape with a draw by perpetual by 20…Qg3+ 21.Kh1 Qh3+ etc. The text move is simply best, leaving White with a massive advantage.

Black's attack does indeed look bogus; perhaps he figured he would at least have a perpetual. 15…Nf4 16.Rg1 Qh4 might be an improvement, establishing a strong presence of Black pieces near the White king, but it's probably not enough.

13...Bd7 14.Qb3 b5 followed by moves like rook to b8, queen to b6 and pawns to a5 and c4 instead, and it seems to me Black's pawn march against White's cramped and undeveloped pieces constitute an advantage.
