May-14-04  Lawrence: When asked what he thought about 27.a4 Junior replied "I am not amused." White's moves 33 and 34 were no cause for mirth either.

Yes. Black gets quite an attack in the Benko but as comp White often gets passed a+b pawns. That's what he gets here, but he gives them away in consecutive moves.

May-07-17  Eusebius: Very nice how Benko keeps the pressure on. Black's bishop on g7 was nasty for white.
May-07-17  offramp: Yesterday, Kmoch vs Alekhine, 1926, we saw Kmoch playing a Dutch Kmoch. Today Benko plays a Benko.
May-07-17  ChessHigherCat: Tomorrow, we're not likely to see Vukic playing a Vukic. That's discrimination for you! I was expecting 26..Bxd4 but the game line cxd4 was much better because it created the mighty passed pawn. I wonder who taught Benko to play the Benko so well?
May-07-17  RandomVisitor: After 19...Qd7 white is doing well but needs to generate some threats in order to maintain the tension. Perhaps it is time for 20.a4.

May-07-17  morfishine: <offramp> I've complained that that too often <CG> highlights Benko losses; but he won many brilliant games against very tough competition. So here, we get a Benko victory, but alas, its primarily due to the opponent's howler(s), one after the other :(

Bronstein.

It is so sad that brute force completely eliminated other approaches to chess programming. Where is Google when we need them?
