plang: 7..a6?! was a new move but it seems to be refuted by Boleslavsky's 8 a4 after which White is clearly better; 7..Nbd7 or possibly 7..Nc6 look playable. Boleslavsky thought his 26 Bf3 was too slow recommending 26 Ra1..Ne4 27 Qd3..Bxa1 28 Rxa1..Nf6 29 Rxa6..Qb8 30 b5 and the passed pawns will be decisive. 30..Qxb5 looks like a tougher defense though after 31 Rc1 White should win.

After 18. Rfc1:

White has a strategically won game. The Pawn duo at b4 & c4 block any Queenside play by Black, and the firm control over the d5 square means Black will never achieve the freeing break ...d6-d5 so there is no plan.

White's Knights on a5 & a4 remind me of W So vs A Giri, 2016

White to Play and Win after 40 ... Rf8.
