Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-21-02  urusov: While Torre's play as White here is commendable, he was clearly aided by poor defense on the part of Black. Instead of 14....Ng6? Black should play 14....Kh8! 15.Nxf6 Ng8! with good chances of holding the key f6 square.
Nov-21-02  drukenknight: Torre is very tricky with his two knights. The Mexican defense is one of his creations. in this case, it apppears that white relies on the open king file in the opening and hopes black does not take advantage. It appears that black should simply take the check 6....Qe7+ but I guess he is afraid that he will block in his B. Appears to be an unfounded fear since white either pins a piece or else puts the Q there and they are exchanged and black can then develop the B to a better spot.

It's clever.

Oct-15-16  RookFile: Urosov's 14....Kh8 is a very good move. It's exactly what he says, i.e. 14....Kh8 15. Nxf6 Ng8 16. Nh5 Qd7 17. Rd4 f6 18. Rh4 d5 19. Qc3 Rf7

I don't see any mistakes by black in the first 12 moves so it can't be that white can sac an exchange and just win.

Oct-15-16  RookFile: 6....Qe7+ is also interesting. 7. Be2 Nc6 8. Qf4 Qb4+ 9. Nc3 Nd5 10. Qe4+ Qxe4 and black has no problems.
Oct-15-16  Atking: <RookFile> could White open one by 7.Kd1? 7...Qd6 8.Re1+ Be7 9.QxQ cxQ 10.BxN gxB 11.Nc3 Black is pawn up but 2 are doubled. Else I agree with 14...Kh8! and 15..Ng8! The exchange sacrifice was spec still Torre played until the end very convincely.
Oct-15-16  RookFile: Well, I would think that black would first of all hit white with 7...Nc6.
