Jun-24-05  Castle In The Sky: This game is another amazing Tal game. He makes brilliant use of his king as an attacking piece versus the normally passive roles that kings play.
Jun-25-05  Pretzel Logic: Looks like a Capablanca game, move quickly to a superior endgame.

After Black swaps his Rook for the new Queen, doesnt he have some sort of chance with the two connected pawns? It seems like there is still some play left in the position.

Jun-25-05  Kangaroo: <Pretzel Logic: <Looks like a Capablanca game>>

penarol: The winning march of the white king is quite similar to that of Tal-Lisitsin, 1956, where Tal had also material disadvantage. The rook ending is very alike too.
May-29-06  KingG: Nice endgame.
Jan-20-12  drukenknight: After so much comments, in the final position why cannot black build a fortress or is only Botvinnik allowed to?

E.g. 44...Rxg4
45. b6 Rb4
46. b7 Rxb7+
47. Kxb7 h5

Because of the not very advanced position of Black's pawns and king, White can stop the pawns and eventually pick them off.

44...Rxg4 45. b6 Rb4 46. b7 Rxb7+ 47. Kxb7 h5 48. Kb6 Kg7 49. Kc5 Kh6 50. Kd4 Kg5 51. Ke3 etc. Where is the fortress?

Feb-24-12  drukenknight: would it work any better if I had waited to take the pawn, so instead of 46 Rxb7 wait till the pawn queens? that way my pawns can advance further.

If Black waits, White prevents the capture with <Rb6> and soon gets a queen.

44...Rxg4 45. b6 Rb4 46. b7 h5 47. Rb6, etc.

Penguincw: White will be able to queen the pawn.
Apr-06-13  drukenknight: tough game to figure, thank you for all your comments, bg. I will try to work it again...
Oct-25-13  pjanda: 28 ... Rxa2? (28 ... Rxf2! 29. Rd5 Rxa2 30. Rxb5 Rxg2 31 Rxb7 Rxg2), M. Shereshevsky
Dec-09-16  RookFile: If you told somebody this was a Rubinstein game, he might believe you. Nice ending by Tal.

HeMateMe: black swapping queens after 14 moves just seems to concede a draw. White has a very easy looking game.
