Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-05-05  Poisonpawns: One of the most amazing endings I`ve ever seen.Black is all of a sudden totally lost in what seemed like a winning position and i can`t see where the decisive error was maybe move 37.Be5!? I need help on this one.Tal was one incredible tactical genius, I am sure he saw from 38.h5!! to the end.
Jun-26-08  MichAdams: The guilty party must be 38...Ra1 forcing White's Queen to where it wants to go. 38...Rb1 seems to be the only way to maintain the advantage, but winning with the opposite bishops is easier said than done.

Apr-22-20  carpovius: Finish can be: 43. gxf7+ Kxf7 44. Bh5+ Kf8 45. Rc8+ Ke7 46. Qe4+ Kd7 47. Qe8# or 43. gxf7+ Kg7 44. f8=Q+ Kxf8 45. Rc8+ Ke7 46. Qe4+ Kf7 47. Bh5+ Kg7 48. Qg6#
Jan-03-21  butilikefur: i don't think it can be <43. gxf7+ ♔xf7 44. ♗h5+ ♔f8 45. ♖c8+ ♔e7 46. ♕e4+?> because of 46...♕e5 or ...♗e5.

I think you have to get rid of the bishop first with <46. ♕h7+ ♗g7 47. ♖e8+ ♔d7> (getting the king to a white square) <48. ♕f5+ ♔c7 49. ♕f7+ ♔b6> and <50. ♖b8+ wins> (looks like 50...♕b7 ♕xb7+ mate is the end).

It's funny how the English opening between Tal and Velimirovic turns into a modern benoni!
