Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-13-08  jerseybob: The final game in this datebase of the mysterious Robert Skuja; of his 11 listed games, 7 were against Tal, and all the games were against Soviet players. Was "Skuja" an actual person, or perhaps an early chess computer being tested by various Soviet players, the SKUJA 1.0, set at 2200 level perhaps.
Sep-13-08  DoctorD: What a ridiculous theory!

R. Skuja can be found playing in a tournament in Riga in 1930 according to Gaige.

A 2200 chess computer in 1960??

Yes it was programmed by Mr. Spock of the Enterprise on a time travel mission.

Sep-17-08  jerseybob: Interesting you should mention Spock, DoctorD. He had no sense of humor either.
Sep-20-08  DoctorD: Yes, nothing funny in what I said, whereas of course you have all the wit of a local radio morning host who also buses tables at the local Comedy Club, waiting for his big break.
Feb-11-15  zanzibar: You can see a picture of this game here:

with a small amount of commentary. (Thx to <hemy> for pointing out the original source in Shachmaty, No 9, May, 1965)

Feb-11-15  zanzibar: Tal gives the win away at on his 43th move:

Feb-12-15  Retireborn: <zanzibar> 43...Rdh1! Interestingly, CA mentions that move but gives 44.f5=. Engines do not agree, of course!
Mar-06-17  Straclonoor: Tal missed win in this game against one of brothers Skuja - Robert.
