Feb-13-08  DarthStapler: Another victory for the great Tal
Feb-15-08  Mendrys: Nice looking exchange sac at the end. I'm not sure it's completely sound though. My silicon friend Crafty likes 25...Qe2 and gives:

7:18:01 45.206.973,153 1.720 -3.61 26. Rf1 Nd3 27. Qxf8+ Kxf8 28. Nxd3+ Ke7 29. Nc1 Qxe3+ 30. Kh1 Qd2 31. b3 e5

Both Crafty and Shredder score the game as played even until whites 29. Kf1 instead of 29. Ke1.

29. Kf1 loses the rook because after 29...Qh1+ 30. Ke2 Qg2+! white is mated the next move.

I'm rather glad Tal played what he did though. It's a nice little game and a classic example of him pressuring his opponent into a bad move. Despite what Crafty and Shredder say I wouldn't want to be in whites shoes with my king so exposed. I wonder if the game is really "even" at move 29 as they say.

Aug-10-08  CharlesSullivan: Yes, White could have completely equalized with 29.Ke1! For example: 29...Qxb2 30.Qc8+ Kf7 31.Rxd7+! Nxd7 32.Qxd7+ Kf6 33.Qxa7 and White should have no difficulties drawing this game.
