Sep-09-16 | | SpiritedReposte: Complications much? Good grief, would like to see how strong computers evaluate this one. Games like this make you realize how crazy chess is. How to possibly see through all those variations?? |

 | | Honza Cervenka: 32.gxf5! was better than the text, and if 32...exf5 or 32...e5, then 33.Qxg8+! Kxg8 34.Bc4+ with mate on h8 coming soon. Other moves like 32...dxe3 or 32...axb5 are followed by 33.fxe6 with threat Qxg8+ and mate on h8, and after 32...Rd5 white can play simply 33.Nxa7. After 32.Bg5 axb5 33.R1h6 black could have played 33...Qxc6, and black is still alive. 34.Rf6+ seems to lead just to a draw after 34...gxf6 35.Bh6+ Rg7 36.Bxg7+ Ke7 37.Bxf6+ Kd6 38.Be5+ Kd5 39.Rxa7 Qc4 40.bxc3 Qxc3 41.Qxg8 Qe1+ 42.Kb2 Qb4+ etc. |

|
Mar-24-18 | | WorstPlayerEver: Not to be too mischievous, but I know the guy is called Koblenz. You know why? He wrote many books under that name. But it seems cg fell for the Dutch Disease: spelling words differently each other day. For God's sake: KOBLENZ was the trainer of TAL. |
|
Mar-24-18 | | Nazmul Lincoln: Really nice game |
|
Mar-24-18 | | morfishine: According to Burgess, this was a training game between Tal and his trainer Aleksandrs Koblenz (who worked directly with Tal from 1955 - 1979) In any case, the only way this lame game title has the slightest chance of being effective is if Tal was playing Ernest Borgnine conclusion: another sad word-play torpedoed and sunk ***** |

Mar-24-18 | | catlover: There were various pieces floating en prise, starting with move 25. Maybe that accounts for the "navy" in the pun. |

 | | tpstar: Rest day entertainment!
<Next they visited Pompano Beach, Florida where looters and rioters were gathering outside the chessgames.com home office to protest their use of original GOTD titles from the Best Games of 2015 contest. They saw JohnBoy (“dumb pun”) shintaro go (“bad pun”) piltdown man (“weak pun”) psmith (“offensive”) knighttoefour (“cringe-inducing”) KID Slayer (“really inappropriate pun”) nalinw (“very poor taste”) sleepyirv (“incredibly poor taste”) & thegoodanarchist (“scraping the bottom of the barrel for ‘puns’”). goodevans shouted, “A big boo on two counts for whoever submitted this as GOTD this time round. Just who are the CHUMPS that are proposing games to be GOTD so soon after they’ve already been GOTD? Whoever you are, can you PLEASE STOP doing it!!!!” SugarDom added, “Of course if it’s Tpstar pun, we can’t do anything. He’s like a powerful warlock around here. My greatest regret is loving that unworthy sh%thead Wesley So. At least my place in chess history is secure.” Finally group leader morfishine addressed the angry mass: “Political references have no position in chess – end of conversation. As selfish greedy freebie-loving Millennial Grubers, we demand to be entertained every second, otherwise we use social media to throw feces at our enemies.” Suddenly Zeus came down from Mount Olympus to confront them: “In 13 years, they have presented over 4,000 GOTD titles. You have ten seconds to propose a new GOTD title idea that has not been used already, otherwise I shall develop a site enhancement called Spank the Booty where you are immediately punished for insulting other posters’ work product.” The crowd became instantly quiet as they realized they had neither the creativity nor the originality to invent any new GOTD idea that has not been used in 4,000 titles over 13 years, so they scattered at once. Except next time they visited the site and blindly criticized the GOTD title (without suggesting a new alternative), they received a big spank in the booty. Hard. We’re talking bare hand on bare booty action here. These looters and rioters became despondent: “Oh woe is us! If only we did not insult other posters’ work product, we wouldn’t be spanked in the booty. Hard. We’re talking bare hand on bare booty action here.” Zeus said, “Wow, this Spank the Booty feature is working great. I’ll make it a part of the next Holiday Present Hunt for anyone who complains about a free contest.”> Kenneth S Rogoff (kibitz #204268) Spank the Booty! |
