Jun-24-21 | | Brenin: Like <Cheapo>, I chose the direct 19 Nxg7 Kxg7 20 Bh6+, underestimating the strength of the quieter 20 Bd4 in the game line; in the game, can Black defuse the attack by giving the piece back with Nxe4? |

 | | Dionysius1: 25. ♗xa6 is nice too. I know to win with ♕ v ♖♖ I need to look out for tactics. Good to see one. Except that 22. ♖c5 wasn't forced (what WAS that for?), I'd think it was the point of the combination starting 19. ♘xg7 |

Probably not quite as good as Svidler's line (after I'd seen this I didn't even consider that) but still good enough for a win, I'd hope. |

I put it into Arena.
I have core temp running so I can see the CPU temperatures on all 4 cores.
Set up the engine to run on 4 cores if you have a quad core.
Don't let it try to run 8 cores on a 4 core hyper threaded CPU.
Limit the memory to say half of what you have.
I have 16 Gig so I give it 8 Gig.
If you don't follow my instructions you could boil the CPU and the computer
will be unresponsive as all clock cycles will
be used up running Stockfish. |

Black looks weak on the dark squares. This suggests 19.Nxg7: A) 19... Kxg7 20.Bh6+ (20.Bd4 Ncd7 21.Rxf6 Nxf6 22.Rf1 is probably winning but looks more complex to me) 20... Kg8 (20... Ncxe4 20.Nxe6 Nxd2 21.Rxf6 fxe6 22.Rxf8+ Rxf8 23.Bxd2 wins a piece and a pawn. C) 19... Nfxe4 20.Bxe4 Nxe4 (20... Qxe4 21.Nxh5 wins a piece and a pawn) 21.Qd4 Qg4 (21...
