Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-12-05  EmperorAtahualpa: I have two questions about this game:

1: Why can Black not capture the b-pawn on move 23? (23...Rxb2?)

2: What is the point of 36.Ba1?

Dec-12-05  mymt: 1.maybe 23. ...Rxb2 24.Nxe5
2.saves the B from being exchanged by ...Nd3
Dec-12-05  bvwp: 23.. Rxb2, (got the move wrong last time) 24 Qxe5 also looks interesting, though rather too difficult for the likes of me to calculate.
Dec-12-05  sneaky pete: <EmperorAtahualpa> 23... Rxb2 24.Nxe5 .. looks okay for white. 36.Ba1 .. may be played to take the sting out of .. a5 and to make 37.Rb1 .. with a4 .. and b5 .. possible. Of course, after 30.b4? .. all his efforts are in vain.
Dec-14-05  EmperorAtahualpa: Thanks all, your explanations all make sense to me.
