Oct-16-05  Poisonpawns: I wonder if Spassky played this variation of sicilian to keep Tal from playing in typical attacking style.

Open Defence: <I wonder if Spassky played this variation of sicilian to keep Tal from playing in typical attacking style.> Probably but if I am not mistaken, Spassky was a leading exponent of closed Sicilians
Oct-16-05  RookFile: This is quite right: Spassky was perhaps the greatest expert of the closed sicilian as white. His games against Geller from from their match
are some of the most notable games
in Closed Siclian history. Spassky
also used the closed Sicilian to win
against Fischer in 1992.
Jan-15-06  Poisonpawns: <open defense> and <Rookfile>I thought it was Smyslov who was known for being the leading expert in the Closed Sicilians in those days.
Apr-22-07  talisman: owned him early but this was the last win for spassky over tal.
Nov-05-18  brankat: After this game the score was 6-4 for Spassky. He won the next game, to win the match by 7:4.
Jan-05-19  edubueno: 15...b6! y las negras están mejor. ¿Se animaría BS a debilitarse con 16.c4 Be6 17.Qd2 Kh7 18.Ng5+ hxg5 19.Bxc6 Rc8 20.Bg2 g4 21.b3 Rc7 22.Rbd1 Rd7 23.f3 gxf3 24.Bxf3 Bf5 25.g4 Rxd3 ?
