Nov-06-09  returnoftheking: 16. Nf4 !!
This is why Shirov should be at the Tal memorial.
Nov-06-09  suenteus po 147: <returnoftheking> Well, sure, 14 years ago Shirov was one of the top 10/top 5 easily. He's a little more "seasoned" now and perhaps not as strong as he was, although winning Mtel this year sure did brighten my month :)
Nov-06-09  returnoftheking: Yup. His games and prep there were very good. And he played in the style of tal, despite him playing the Botvinnik system of the semi slav;-).
Nov-06-09  suenteus po 147: <returnoftheking> D44 used to be Shirov's bread and butter, back in the day when he, Kamsky, and Kramnik all played it to the great delight of spectators and opening theorists alike.
