ToTheDeath: Powerful pawn sacrifice led to a deadly initiative for White.
Jan-16-12  optimal play: Tempting is 15.♗xd6 ♕xd6 16.♗xh7+!
but if after 15.♗xd6 Black plays 15...♖d8! White's initiative dissipates. So instead Portisch played 15.♖e3! winning back the pawn and taking full control.
May-20-14  Trammy Cotch: 19 ..Nf4 20. Qg4?! (Qf3 =) ..Ne5 21. Qxg7+ Kxg7 22. Bxe5+ f6 23. Bxf4 Be6 24. Rae1 Rxd3
May-21-14  goldenbear: 18.g6 looks much better than h6, but then 19.Qxh7+ is a problem...

perfidious: In his annotations in the BCM, Bill Hartston's note to Portisch's 26th move began:

<After a harmless repetition, White plays the killer....>
