Honza Cervenka: Despite of seemingly harmless opening Smyslov completely outplayed Polugaevsky in the middlegame. World class performance.
May-18-13  dmvdc: The funny part about the game is that it was, according to Smyslov, the first time in his career that he had played the Vienna. He said:

<My intention was to employ an old and half-forgotten continuation.>

Nov-12-15  jerseybob: Smyslov, a long-time devotee of the Closed Sicilian, plays his favorite opening in another setting.
Jul-18-21  ndg2: Strange game all in all. I guess white was better most of the time, but I don't know whether giving up a4 pawn was necessary in any way. Giving up black's LSB feels strange, too.
